The Jester

Joke

Too young a body

to be trapped

too young a heart

for a chair with wheels.

What cruel jester

to lay this card

on one so innocent

still she smiles.

Sun glint on buttercup fields

a smile to melt all sorrow

giving beauty without cost

yet again the jester has lost.
