Memory

And I left as the snow fell

Winters grip still loose

The hedgehog under the hedge row

Asleep in dreams of spring

Those walls now silent, still

The laughter, echoes of a past

Lived once in a fading memory

A shadow in a laced window

Faces

In solemn silence much is said.

Words without meaning, a book unread.

Illusion played out upon a stage.

Behind the curtains of hidden rage.

When to the world a part is played.

While to oneself a truth betrayed.

Kept hidden within and held to heart.

In silent roar will play the part.
