Open

Harbinger of mercy; grace not my path
That I would live in truth, without measure
Divested of deceit, unveiled in knowing

Harbinger of mercy, steadfastly refrain
That I should know, that which is naked and raw
Pain as pain, joy unbound

Harbinger of mercy, stay fast thy hand
That I might accept, all things untouched
Multiplicity as stolid singularity

Guarded

1

A heart tempered in the forge of this world,

Guarded, walled and isolated

In youth a heart that was unfurled

Lessons learned, the tongue is held

A private world kept within

Far from the one in which we dwell

Unspoken words kept in chains

Too far gone now to care

The scars and sadness still remain

Looking backward becomes unclear

While forward is now short of sight

Right now is the time held most dear

Shared Moment

Pristine white in crystals glow

Fading light held one last time

Facets jeweled in grace and flow

Reflected moments of the passing day

Unique and alone within the storm

Sharing a single moment, then fade away

The Fallen

Too many fall before their time
Into the distance crosses all in line
In shady fields their souls now rest
The young and brave who faced the test

In foreign lands so far from home
They bore their task with great aplomb
Beside the earth where now they lay
A bugle calls their final day

In times to come we may yet see
Their sacrifice did not need to be
When words unheard  become the sword
A bleak sad future we march toward

Untold Truth

An answer? There never was one
No one ever told us
How could they?
When all are just as lost

Frail fingernails on a cliff edge
Bloodied and broken
Clinging to a sanity that never was
A Grimm tale told to children

The search, seeking order in chaos
Where no order is given
Truth is as truth is, not a wish fulfilled
Blinders or hope  could never make it so

Finally the fall, endless
Into the primal abyss, the void
Without beginning or end
Finally knowing the unspeakable truth
