Moonlight Serenade

Shadow cast on moonlit lawn

Crickets chirp a familiar song

Tiny cast now plays along

Precious moments too soon gone

Firefly lighting sets the stage

Illuminate this twilight haze

No audience do they engage

Just simple words upon this page

The Dogs Of War

Release the dogs of war

Literary beasts, teeth rending

The fabric of personal realities

Digested too long, spew forth.

Primal vicissitudes evolved

Transformed by perception, and time

Unleashed, set forth to feed upon

Ravenous souls bereft of direction.

Purpose guide my pens blade

Slash life upon this virgin page

Blood stained truth covering

The lies and banalities of this world.

What Matters

Why can we not begin each day as if it was our first?

Why do we carry, a dead past forward?

That is gone, and this is this

I greet you anew, as you do too

Past never was

Only now

Face to face

A sigh revealed

Too long covered

Virtue and sin

Melded to one

Earth and sky

Taste of life

And knowing is

The return of love
