Blind

I went into the world today
To see what I could see
If everyone out there
Was just like me

And what I found out there
As I looked around
Was sadness and fear
With eyes cast down

So I asked each of them
How come so forlorn?
They answered very quietly
Voices ragged and torn

They had lost their memory
Who they used to be
Regardless as they tried
They were never free

I sat beside a tree today
To see what I could see
Wind against my cheek
Happy I am free

Stoic.
