Untrodden Paths

In dusty ruins of a past
Footprints fade away
Others gone before us
Trying to lead the way

So we repeat our mistakes
Blind to the wall
We hit our head upon
Still surprised that we fall

In virgin soil now we sow
Insane they will say
As I turn and walk away
For a silent place to pray

They say I am unstable
Flitting through life
From here to there

They want me to explain
My drum and fife
A tune they cannot hear

So I skip and jump
To a beat of my own
A song they often fear

So I write my words
Often in a poem
Yet still they are unclear

Finite Lines

From here to there
Life seems
Beginnings to ends
Stitched seams

We were, and are
Then not
It always seems
Lives forgot

From one to another
We dream
For another’s hope
Life leans

In Time

Long in tooth and tired
Every breath questioned
Beauty wraps this heart

Love replaces all
Without time to explain
So silence will fall

So few words these days
Learning to see
Life in colours

Telling becomes hearing
Accepting as it is
Smiling for the young

Battles never won nor lost
With no reason or season
With no heed for the cost
