They say I am unstable
Flitting through life
From here to there

They want me to explain
My drum and fife
A tune they cannot hear

So I skip and jump
To a beat of my own
A song they often fear

So I write my words
Often in a poem
Yet still they are unclear

The Dead Spot

Walking Into The Abyss

Courtesy of: RiseEarth

There is a moment rarely found
Between hope and fear
Where silent eternity abounds
Unborn, limitless and clear
Where worlds and words fall away

This is where life is truly lived

Stepping from the edge of thought
The abyss greets one and all
From paths always fraught
To embrace the dead spot and fall
Awakening in the dream

With nowhere else to go

Into The Wasteland

This desolate space
Devoid of all detail
I know what still may be
From which all come

Never empty
The potential lives here
All futures live here
As I walk through the valley

Often I pray upon the past
Blind to this moment
Where all creation lives
As a sun rises for the first time

Every breath a first
Fresh and new
Never before born
Never to be repeated

And I am borne upon first rays
The promise of a new day
As all falls away
In this life’s play

Finite Lines

From here to there
Life seems
Beginnings to ends
Stitched seams

We were, and are
Then not
It always seems
Lives forgot

From one to another
We dream
For another’s hope
Life leans

In Time

Long in tooth and tired
Every breath questioned
Beauty wraps this heart

Love replaces all
Without time to explain
So silence will fall

So few words these days
Learning to see
Life in colours

Telling becomes hearing
Accepting as it is
Smiling for the young

Battles never won nor lost
With no reason or season
With no heed for the cost

(Inspired by Thomas à Kempis)

Petals All

In the seasons of all
From spring to fall
All things grow

Blossoms may fade
In greying days
All hearts bestow

No ravage of time
Can ever define
Or quell the fire

Flowers of all man
All rise and stand
Beyond all desire

A rose will always be
Life born free
Yet never to be

Eternal as it lives
Over again it gives
For all to see

Frozen Canal With Crows.

Crows wheeling in frozen dawn
Through branches along the lake
Every day rejoicing
Without limits of one born

This Christmas morn
I smile, alone
I am still here, still here
And rejoice of one born

Alone I feel joy, because I know
Every breath is a gift
One more day here
Maybe a little more worn

And I give thanks, always
For the chance to be
For others, in Grace
Though tattered and torn
